When I was first told that I would be the only guy on the trip, I got excited… then not so excited… Not sure how the dynamic will be in an 8 versus 1 situation but right now everyone is extremely friendly! However, we have not started living together yet!
Am I nervous? More excited. I can’t wait to meet all the children, eat the food, SEE THE ANIMALS!! I can’t wait to meet Simba. Im 80% sure he lives in Zambia.
I will be volunteering at the Racecourse Community School for orphans and vulnerable children. What am I most excited about? Working with the kids! I can’t wait to try new games and lesson plans. I also can’t wait to see how our (North American education system) lesson plans fare in their British education system.
If it works I will smile. If it fails I will still smile in front of the class because that is how I cope with awkward situations.
P.S. There are only 2 washrooms with 1 shower (between 8 women and 1 guy) … As the movie Hunger Games puts it: “May the odds be ever in your favour.”
P.S.P.S. You can follow my personal blog as well for more neat stuff!
Welcome to Zambia the real africa and feel at home.
