About:

Since YAN’s inception in February 2002, YAN has unwavering interest in ensuring that young people make informed choices and impart in them Life skills to help them avoid HIV and STI infection. YAN through the years has developed partnerships with local community based organisations (CBO), faith based organisations (FBO) and Non – governmental organisation (NGO). In the spirit of putting concerted efforts together and improving implementation and execution of HIV/AIDS activities among the youth, YAN has also been working with national umbrella bodies like National AIDS Council (NAC) through the District AIDS Task Force (DATF) and Zambia National AIDS Network (ZNAN). In DATF YAN is playing a role of bringing the youth organisations together and share its targets, methodologies and coverage areas in Kitwe District to avoid duplication. This has helped the task force to know exactly what the youth organisations are doing in the district.

Community Outreach Officer

Internship Summary:

  • To contribute to effective outreach approaches development and brainstorming in the area youth and community work
  • Be part of the research team at YAN to enhance the quality of services provided to the vulnerable communities YAN is working with
  • Shall from time to time assist in facilitating workshops, trainings and meetings to share expertise,
  • Take part in systems review and development
  • Assist with project proposal development committee at YAN to contribute to the sustainability of YAN’s financial base,
  • Shall from time to time be expected to represent or be present at official meeting with donors and government representatives to understand the governing principles and relevant cultural issues
  • Provide technical and professional advice and ideas on the overall operations of YAN and partners.
