Douglas College and the Global Leadership Program sent 9 students to Zambia for the summer where each student is doing a particular internship relevant to their program of study.

They’ve gone through training to prepare them for their trip of a lifetime but nothing can prepare them for the experience.

With the beginning of a new semester upon us, the Douglas College International Association decided they should hold a social!

When: May 23rd from 4 to 6pm

The DCIA is focused on language exchange and cultural understanding. We provide a place where people of many cultures can meet for the purpose of helping each other’s language studies. This club is open to people of all nationalities but we encourage English speaking students to become involved. Canadian students who join the DCIA can practice their second language skills. Further these meetings will help the student develop the tutoring skills necessary to be an English teacher overseas.

The event on May 23rd will allow us to introduce the DCIA executive team to the summer semester students. We will have a brief information session on what the club does, how it is structured, and what students can gain from joining. The club members will also be encouraging students to become involved with the events provided by the International Office, DSU and Doug Life. We will then proceed with a barbeque, music, prize draws, and an ice-breaker game.

Online volunteer registration has now OPENED for the 2012 Canada Cup International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament on June 18-23. The top 8 teams in the world will be vying for the coveted 1st place in the last match-up before the 2012 London Paralympic Games. There are various volunteer roles needed at this tournament, all of which are listed on the volunteer sign-up sheet!

Douglas College is hosting the 2012 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championships and we’re filming promotional videos.

Is this something you’d like to be a part of? We’re holding an open casting call.

We’ll be needing 2 experienced male players as actors and 3 extras for the video. Both opportunities are now posted in the on-campus volunteer section of the website.
