Thursday, May 3, 2012
The DC Royals Softball Team split their doubleheader at Shoreline CC in Washington on Tuesday, winning 6-0 and losing 10-4.
Kyla Myre had an excellent outing in game one, pitching a one hit shutout and striking out 16 of the 24 batters she faced. Tamara Milford lead the offense with her first career homerun, a two run shot in the 6th inning, while Sydney Jeffers and Joanie Hayes both went 3-4. Jeffers had a triple and Kristi Wilson, Kyla Myre and Shelby Spargo all added doubles to the 13 hit attack.
In the second game, some timely hits and two costly errors by Douglas allowed Shoreline to build on their 4-3 lead by scoring six runs. Douglas got one back in the sixth but was unable to mount a comeback. Alex Young took the loss in her first start of the season, while Kyla Myre hit her sixth homerun of the season and Kristi Wilson had two hits for Douglas.
Douglas travels to Skagit Valley on Saturday and Edmonds on Tuesday before hosting crucial games against Shoreline on Wednesday, Everett on Friday and Olympic on Saturday at Softball City in White Rock. All home games are 1 and 3 pm. All NWAACC results and schedules can be viewed at the NWAAC website.
