Positive Living Society of BC – Film Director & Producer
Organization: Positive Living Society of BC
Position Title: Do Something for AIDS Film Director & Producer
Location: downtown Vancouver
The Scotiabank AIDS WALK for LIFE, taking place on Sunday, September 23rd, 2012, is a strong community event that attracts more than 5,000 participants, 400 volunteers, 15 local AIDS Service Organizations and over 100 corporate teams.
In 2011, we raised over $315,000 for British Columbians living with HIV AIDS. All funds raised at the AIDS WALK for LIFE benefit our Complementary Health Fund (CHF) at Positive Living Society of BC. The CHF reimburses low-income HIV-positive individuals for over-the-counter items essential to their health plans. Positive Living Society of BC has over 5100 members, many of whom can’t afford the high costs of staying healthy.
In 1986, Vancouver was the first city in Canada to organize an AIDS Walk and this year will be our 27th year of the WALK in raising awareness and much needed funds for persons living with HIV and AIDS in B.C.
The week of the walk is Do SOMETHING for AIDS Week, September 17th-22nd. Throughout this week, we challenge people to ‘do something’ creative to raise money and awareness for the WALK. Whether it be wearing a prupose onsie to work or doing abottle drive in santa costumes.
We are looking for a film director and producer who will create a video that is promotional for the WALK. The video will include some interviews of key members of the society as well as whatever else the director envisions. The video has a fundraising component and is to showcase what the society has done for Do Something week and to challenge others to take action to do something as well!
The video will be promoted on the website and various social media outlets beginning of September. This video is for fundraigin and PR in support of an important cause and large-scale community event.
