    Position Title: Cops for Cancer Community Engagement Intern
    Location: Vancouver
    Position Details:

    Overall Purpose: To raise awareness of the Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast campaign through targeted community outreach, media engagement and effective operations planning

    Responsibilities:
    - Provide leadership to the Community Outreach Sub-Committee to establish local timelines and tactics for developing relationships within geographic and non-geographic communities
    - Identify opportunities for growth in media coverage and work with the Steering Committee and staff to maximize the campaign’s potential and perceived value within the community
    - Develop and maintain local media relationships in order to effectively promote Cops for Cancer and increase public awareness and support
    - Track, monitor and evaluate community outreach and media relations deliverables, identify gaps and report progress or concerns to staff partner
    - Work with Logistics Lead to finalize the Tour route based on community events at least 2 weeks prior to the start of Tour
    - Provide leadership to the Tour Producer and supervise the development of a detailed Tour stop schedule including run sheets, speakers notes and key messages
    - Provide coaching and support to the Tour Producer and Community Outreach Sub-Committee in the planning process through problem solving, conflict resolution, training and resources, seeking staff support when needed
    - Plan and coordinate regular Community Engagement Sub-Committee meetings, including agendas, minutes and action items

    Time Commitment: 16 hours per week (Monday – Friday, hours may be reduced in Sept and Oct to accomodate school workload)
    Term: May – October 2012
    Location: Canadian Cancer Society GVR Office (#205-369 Terminal Avenue) with aspects of the role completed from home

    Desirable Skills & Experience:
    - Professional experience in community engagement and/or community event planning
    - Strong organization and planning skills with excellent attention to detail
    - Community knowledge and connections in the Greater Vancouver area
    - Good interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage local media
