• Powwow Dancing the Beginning

Drop – in class and practice for newbies. This is for Douglas students who want to learn First Nation dance styles of powwow. Powwow is a celebration dance and has many different dance categories for men and women. Contemporary powwow is highly competive and involves high cardio and endurance. Cultural traditions are still embedded, making the dance meaningful and sacred to the community.

The basics are easy to learn but to stay in powwow shape constant practice is needed. If you want to start practicing or try something new this is for you!

Please wear comfortable clothing, bring regalia if you have any, and comfortable shoes or Moccasins.
